Doris Ames Ward, 87, of Glen Burnie, Maryland, formerly of Quinby, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2009. Born on May 27, 1921 in a house on Warwick Estate in Quinby, Virginia, Doris has lived in Glen Burnie since 1960. A homemaker, Doris enjoyed feeding the birds, squirrels and stray cats in her neighborhood. She loved to be outdoors, working in her yard and talking with her neighbors. Doris enjoyed always going to the Chincoteague Oyster Festival and the Firemen's Carnival and visiting with her family in Virginia. Beloved wife of 48 years to the late Golden E. Ward Jr.; Loving mother of Douglas E. Ward of Glen Burnie and Barbara Ward Clouspy and her husband Gregory of Owing Mills. She was predeceased by her siblings Elizabeth Wiley, Virginia Gladstone and Edward Ames. Funeral services will be held at the Doughty Funeral Home in Exmore Saturday, April 11, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Joe McKnight officiating. Interment will follow in the Belle Haven Cemetery. A viewing will be held Friday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 at the Doughty Funeral Home.
