Donata Maria Vaccaro

Donata Maria Vaccaro, better known to her family and friends as Dena, passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hours of February 12, 2007. She was born to Giuseppe and Philomena (Carlucci) Vaccaro on December 29, 1926 and was always proud of the fact that she was a "Christmas Baby". She is preceded in death by her mother and father, her brothers James, Peter, Angelo and Mike and her beloved sister-in-law Anna Vaccaro. Dena grew up in a large Italian family in Port Chester, NY. She loved to sing and help cook big Italian meals for her family and many friends. The sweet memories of her will be shared for many years amongst the family she leaves behind. This family includes her beloved sister Lena Vaccaro and nephews Joe Vaccaro, Tommy Carlucci, Andy Vaccaro, Tommy J. Carlucci and Christopher Vaccaro and nieces Michele Carlucci, Victoria Vaccaro, Sara Ciancio, Phyllis Ann Vaccaro and Annette Vaccaro. The Vaccaro Family would like to thank Dr. Howard Yudin and Barbara (NY) for their kindness and understanding through some difficult years and the staff at Heritage Hall (VA) for their professionalism and care. We would especially like to thank Kelley, Yvonne and Debbie at Heritage Hall who made Dena's last few months comfortable and peaceful. Dena had a heart that was kind and gentle and we learned many life skills from her. One of those skills was making friends with a mere cup of coffee and a smile. She will be greatly missed and she set the example for all of us by living her life well and treating everyone with kindness and love. We love you Aunt Dena.
