Donald James Trufant, 83, a resident of Cape Charles, VA, passed away Friday, February 20, 2015 at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Nassawadox, VA. A native of Union Springs, NY, he was the son of the late Coral Trufant and the late Mary Jennings Trufant. He retired as Executive Vice President of Mercantile - Safe Deposit & Trust in Baltimore, MD, was a past board member of Eastern Shore Community College and the Eastern Shore Barrier Island Center, The Eastern Shore Community Foundation and Eastern Shore Rural Health. He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and many special friends and colleagues. He was predeceased by two brothers, Edward Trufant and Robert Trufant and a sister, Mildred Trufant Ringwood. "Jim", as he was known, loved his New York family and friends, and he made many gifts to his home community. "Don" will be long remembered also for his many generous contributions and his service to the Eastern Shore, which was his adopted home for nearly twenty years. To honor his wishes no formal services will be held.
