Donald Richard Baylis, age 71, of Daytona Beach, Florida, formerly of Keller, Virginia, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2009 after a long illness. Born in Melville, New York, he was the son of the late Clarence Baylis Sr., and the late Marjory F. Baylis. He served our country proudly in the US Air Force. He was a unique man who dedicated his talents as a baseball player for the Carswell Bombers in 1958-1959, and as an announcer for Jailai and the Greyhound Race Tracks in Melbourne, Orlando, and Tampa. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Pauline Baylis, two children, Brian Baylis and his wife Dawn of Pungoteague, Va., and Allison Antenberg and her husband David of Destin, Fla.; two brothers, Wayne Baylis of Modestown, Va., Clarence Baylis and his wife Donna of Quinby, Va.; a sister-in-law, Josephine Baylis of Onley, Va.; 5 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild. Other than his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Arthur Baylis. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
