For 53 years, Diane Gilley Henry brought joy, smiles and an unforgettable unconditional love to all who knew her. She dedicated her life to serving the Almighty Lord through her steadfast and unwavering nurture and love for her husband, Mark Henry, Sr., children, Mark Henry, Jr. and Danica Henry Low, and grandchildren, David Henry Low (age four) and Samantha Lynne Low (age two). Diane passed away peacefully on February 10. As an only child to her parents, Hamon and Dena Gilley of Martinsville, Virginia, Diane was their pride and joy. Diane adored and respected her parents immensely and credited their fantastic Christian example for her happiness - and in finding the Lord at a young age. Diane and Mark started their family in Fredericksburg, Virginia, where her parents then also resided, before settling into Centreville, Virginia, where they lived for nearly twenty years. Diane and Mark moved to Cape Charles, Virginia, five years ago. Diane was active at Centreville Baptist Church for many years - teaching children's Sunday School and Vacation Bible School classes; supporting her husband's service to the church; working administratively in the church office; volunteering for special missions; and taking part in bible study and need-based prayer groups. Professionally, Diane held positions in the finance and accounting departments within the Northampton and Fairfax County governments in Virginia, as well as working for the Office of the County Executive for Fairfax County. Most compelling, was Diane's desire to put her children and her family first, and work around her family's schedule and needs. She was able to "do it all" and remain a dependable reliable professional, and a humble and nurturing mother, while raising two very active children! Diane deeply loved the Lord Jesus Christ and reflected His glory throughout her daily life. This was most evident as she trusted Him during the difficult trial of her battle with cancer. The joy and delight of Diane's life were her children and grandchildren. She made it her life's priority to love and nurture her family, and in this she succeeded abundantly. A celebration of her life and memorial service will be held at 2 PM., Monday, February 16, 2009, at Villa Heights Baptist Church, 150 Corse Avenue, Martinsville, Virginia, 24112. Family will receive friends at the church from 1PM - 2PM and a reception will follow the service at the church. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.doughtyfuneralhome.com Arrangements by Wilkins-Doughty Funeral Home, Cape Charles, Virginia.
