Dewitt C. Jernigan

Dewitt C. Jernigan, 79, a resident of Cape Charles, VA, formerly of Wilbraham, MA , passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Nassawadox, VA. He was the son of the late James A. Jernigan and the late Viola Jernigan. Mr. Jernigan was a retired business owner, served in the United States Air Force, loved fishing and hunting and was a gifted gardener who shared his harvest with many friends. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jean Jernigan; two sons, Chris Jernigan of Chicopee, MA, Randy Jernigan and his wife, Susan, of York, PA; one brother, James Jernigan and his wife, Mary Edith, of Cape Charles; four grandchildren, Christa, Justin, Drew, Alex and several nieces and nephews. A celebration of life service will be conducted Friday, November 11, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Wilkins-Doughty Funeral Home in Cape Charles with Father J. Michael Breslin officiating.
