Devin Metz

We are heartbroken to share the sad news of the passing of our own, Devin Thomas Metz, 26, of Exmore, VA.

Devin was born September 27, 1997, to Jennifer Metz Tankard and Devone Belford James.

Devin was a happy little boy, growing up with his seven brothers and sisters, Tyler, Breanna, Evan, Marcus, Ashton, Jayden, and Amiah. He loved playing outside, and he was also quite the jokester. He loved his family and friends, and spent many hours looking through family pictures, asking a hundred questions. Devin also had a great love for music.

As Devin’s life went on, he encountered many struggles and challenges. He spent a lot of time away from the shore, but back on the shore is where he longed to be.

Devin is survived by his loving parents; brothers and sisters, named above; special niece, Blessence Berryhill; and maternal grandparents, Mary Lou Robbins and George Metz.

He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Pauline James and Gerald Frances; and a special great grandmother, Nanny, who we know is holding him in Heaven.

Devin has moved on before us, but he will not be forgotten. He is now in a better place, where he is free at last.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, March 25, 2024, at 1:00PM, at Doughty Funeral Home with Reverend Jonathan Carpenter officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mental Health Awareness, c/o ESCB, 24233 Lankford Hwy, Tasley, VA 23441.
