V. Dean Mears, 73, husband of the late Mary Shields Mears and a resident of Exmore, VA, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2015, at his residence. A native of Onley, VA and reared in Exmore, he was the son of the late Earl B. Mears and the late Ruth Roberts Mears. He was the retired owner of Dean's Signs, a musician, and a U.S. Coast Guard Veteran. He was a member of Exmore Baptist Church and Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #614.
He is survived by four children, Sheryl Dean Mears of Lakeland, FL, Tony Martin Mears and Lyle Ray Mears, both of Exmore, Rita Nester Bradford and her husband, Shannon, of Warrior, AL; a sister, Delores "Dee" Phippin and her husband, Vaughn, of Weirwood, VA; five grandchildren; and one great grandson.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at 2:00 PM at Exmore Baptist Church with Pastor Jonathan Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow in the Belle Haven Cemetery. Family will join friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Exmore Baptist Church, 11624 Occohannock Road, Exmore, VA 23350.
