Darlene Huckleberry

Edna Darlene Thornton Huckleberry, 54, a resident of Melfa, VA, passed away Friday, October 13, 2017 at her residence. A native of Exmore, VA, she was the daughter of John Lee Thornton and his wife, Mary Lou, of Melfa, and the late Edna Lilliston Bowen. She was a retired claims investigator for Aetna Insurance and member of Faith Baptist Church.

In addition to her father and step-mother, she is survived by her daughter, Teresa Marie Riojas of Louisville, TN; step-daughter, Desiree Huckleberry of Jacksonville, FL; two granddaughters, Emma Marie Williams and Elizabeth Paige Riojas, both of East Freetown, MA; step-father, Billy Bowen of Exmore; brother, John Thornton, Jr. and his wife, Diana, of Crestview, FL; and three sisters, Sandy Bowen and her husband, Aaron, of East Freetown, Annette Dunn and her husband, Phil, of Birdsnest, VA, and Cathy Jo Lilliston and her husband, Calvin, of Oak Hall, VA. She was predeceased by a daughter, Melinda Sue Williams and a sister, Teresa Thornton Parker.

A celebration of life service will conducted Sunday, October 15, 2017, at 6:00 PM at Doughty Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Madron officiating. Interment will be private in Belle Haven Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Riverside Shore Hospice, P.O. Box 615, Onley, VA 23418.
