Colin Douglas Cowling, Jr. 68, a resident of Eastville, VA, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Nassawadox, VA. A native of Eastville, he was the son of the late Colin Douglas Cowling, Sr. and the late Mary James Cowling. He was a Barton College graduate, farmer, insurance broker, former chairman of the Northampton Republican Party and served on various committees, including the Chesapeake Bay Preservation Board.
He is survived by three children, Colin Douglas Cowling, III, better known as Doug, and his wife, Rebecca, of Harborton, VA, Janet Marie Cowling of Norfolk, VA, Edward James Cowling and his wife, Angelica, of Universal City, TX; three sisters, Mary J. Moses and her husband, Howard, of Monkton, MD, Lula Carpenter of Springfield, VA, Bess Yang and her husband, Kimmy, of Cary, NC and two grandchildren, Waylan Douglas Cowling and Rhiella Maryann Cowling.
A graveside service will be conducted Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Christ Episcopal Church Cemetery with Reverend Jonathan Carpenter officiating. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to American Legion Post #56, P. O. Box 351, Cheriton, VA 23316 or Hospice and Palliative Care of the Eastern Shore, 165 Market Street, Suite #3, Onancock, VA 23417.
