Charlotte Custis

Charlotte Elmore Sturgis Custis, 105, wife of the late Elvin R. Custis, Sr. and a resident of Craddockville, VA, passed away Monday, May 19, 2014 at her residence. She was born July 3, 1908 at Davis Wharf, VA and was the daughter of the late Leonard Sturgis and the late Lella Elmore Sturgis. She was a member of Craddockville United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She is survived by two children, Russell S. Custis and his wife, Doris Mae of Craddockville, Sue C. Lewis and her husband, Jimmy, of Orange, VA; a daughter-in-law, Linda C. Custis of Belle Haven, VA; one brother, Leonard Sturgis of Davis Wharf; six grandchildren, Richie Custis and his wife, Deanna, Pamela Stone and her husband, Tommy, Lynn Schwendeman and her husband, Artie, Russ Custis and his wife, Angie, Sandra Hoover and her husband, Steve, Susan Morris and her husband, Dennis; and eight great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Elvin R. Custis, Jr. and her sister, Roberta Gregory. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 22, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Doughty Funeral Home in Exmore with Reverend Rob Kelly officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Haven Cemetery. Family will join friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 7 to 8:30. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Craddockville United Methodist Church, c/o June Custis, P.O.
