Charles E. West

Charles Eldridge West, 88, husband of Jo Savage West and a resident of Birdsnest, VA, passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Nassawadox, VA. A native of Church Neck, VA, he was the son of the late Harry Clifton West and the late Mary Ann Downing West. Mr. West was a retired farmer, and a member, past deacon, and treasurer for forty years of Red Bank Baptist Church. He was past President and Chairman of the Board of Marva Farm Credit and a member of Broadwater Masonic Lodge #71 AF & AM. A passionate horseman, he bred, trained, and drove horses. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Phyllis West Graham and her husband, Jeff, of Morehead City, NC, and Martha West Hennessey and her husband, Rod, of Bells Neck, VA; four grandchildren, Carter Magette and his wife, Angel, of Birdsnest, Merianne Grigoriciuc and her husband, Sorin, of California, MD, Connor Hennessey and Patrick Hennessey, both of Bells Neck; four great-grandchildren, Charlie, Ava, Haley, and Alex. He was predeceased by two brothers, Harry C. West, Jr. and Robert B. West, and a sister, Helen W. Lewis. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 7, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at the Red Bank Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. John M. Robertson officiating. Interment will follow in the Red Bank Cemetery.
