Mr. Charles F. Handschur, 91, husband of Norma L. Handschur and a resident of Eastville, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, August 24, 2006. Born April 28, 1915 in Brooklyn, New York, Mr. Handschur was the son of the late Charles Handschur and Anna Kudlata Handschur. After a long career with the West Indies Sugar Corporation, he later retired from the Federal Reserve Bank in New York. Other than his wife of fifty-nine years, Mr. Handschur is survived by his daughter Jean Sawyer and her husband Walter of Brunswick, Maine, and his son David and his wife Mary Miller of Eastville. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Andrew and Emily Sawyer of Maine. He was predeceased by his brother Frank Handschur. Mr. Handschur loved the quiet life on the Eastern Shore and the contentment that he found here. He was a twenty year resident of Eastville.
