Charlene Long

September 25, 1955 — May 24, 2023

Charlene Joynes Long, 67, wife of Roland Somers Long and a resident of Willis Wharf, VA, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital. A native of Belle Haven, VA, she was the daughter of the late Robert Elwood Joynes and the late Evelyn Bernice Huether Joynes. She was an Office Administrator for Tankard Nurseries for 27 years.

In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by a son, Joshua Long of Capeville, VA; a daughter, Elizabeth L. Gagnon and her husband, Nik, of Machipongo, VA; four grandchildren, Zuri Ana Gagnon and John Hall, Kaleb Somers Long and his wife, Megan, Miranda Grace Long, and Owen Chance Long; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers, Bobby Joynes, Henry Joynes, Thomas Joynes and Keith Joynes.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, May 28, 2023, at 2:00PM at Doughty Funeral Home with Reverend Tommy Kellam officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Haven Cemetery.  Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Coalition Against Domestic Violence PO Box 3, Onancock, VA 23417 or American Cancer Society PO Box 163, Salisbury, MD 21803-0163.
