Cecil H. Gibbs

Cecil H. Gibbs, 73, husband of Judie Patterson Gibbs and a resident of Quinby, Virginia, passed away Monday, May 17, 2010 at Heritage Hall Health Care in Nassawadox, Virginia. A native of North Carolina, he was the son of the late Carl J. Gibbs and the late Lillie Mae Little Gibbs. Other than his wife, he is survived by seven children, Danita Howerton of Pennsylvania, Bryan Gibbs of North Carolina, Michael Gibbs and his wife Candice of Littleton, N.C., Geri Gayle Gibbs of Oxford, N.C., Tracey Colyer & husband Reid Barkley of Carol Stream, IL., Shaan Colyer of Springfield, OH, Rodney Adler of Columbus, OH; two sisters, Thelma Taylor of Durham, N.C., Lucille Spellman and her husband Albert of Raleigh, N.C.; and nine grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Forrest Gibbs, and a brother, Carl E. Gibbs. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 20, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. from the Doughty Funeral Home in Exmore with Pastor Tom Durrance officiating. Interment will follow in Quinby Cemetery. Family will join friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 7 to 8:30.
