Catherine Jenkins Parker

December 20, 1925 — July 12, 2011

Catherine Jenkins Parker, 85, of Silver Beach, VA, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at Heritage Hall Healthcare. A native of the Eastern Shore, she was the daughter of the late Henry Halsey Jenkins and the late Irene Scott Jenkins. Mrs. Parker was music director and church organist for Franktown U.M.C. for 32 years and for Johnson U.M.C. for 10 years. She was a member and partner of the Aristocrat Band, production pianist for The Trawler Dinner Theater, leader of the Seventeen group singers and taught music and Glee Club at Broadwater Academy. She was a member of Bethel U.M.C. Mrs. Parker is survived by her husband of 68 years, Creston E. Parker; two daughters, Kathyanne Parker Runninger and her husband, Bob of Onancock, VA and Kresty Parker Massey of Silver Beach, VA; a sister, Kay Rew of Philadelphia, PA; five grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was predeceased by her grandson, Andy Massey. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 15, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Bethel United Methodist Church with Pastor Judy Worthington officiating with a reception to follow. Interment was held at Franktown Cemetery at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to a charity of your choice.
