Carolyn Duer Maher, 69, wife of Robert F. Maher and a resident of Nassawadox, VA, passed away Thursday, October 18, 2012, at Sentara Heart Hospital in Norfolk, VA. A native of Belle Haven, VA, she was the daughter of the late Calvin Rue Duer and the late Eunice Powell Duer. She was a former bank teller at N.M.A. Credit Union in Exmore. She was a member of Belle Haven United Methodist Church and a former member of the Ladies of the Moose, Lodge #683. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Renee Crockett of Belle Haven, and a son, Chuck Crockett and his wife, Rebecca, of Virginia Beach, VA; two sisters, June Charnock and Connie Bonniwell and her husband, Ben, all of Belle Haven; three grandchildren, Scott Ferebee and his wife, Claire, Rachel Ferebee, and Brittany Crockett; a great granddaughter, Haleigh Paige Crockett; numerous nieces and nephews, and a devoted friend, Susan Kemp of Onancock, VA. She was predeceased by her first husband, Charles Henry Crockett. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, October 21, 2012, at 2:00 PM at Belle Haven United Methodist Church with Pastor Judy Worthington and Rev. Jack D. Pruitt officiating. Interment will follow in the Belle Haven Cemetery. Family will join friends at the Doughty Funeral Home Saturday evening from 7:00 to 8:30.
