Carolyn Lewis

Carolyn Elizabeth Lewis, 81, wife of the late Elton William Lewis and a resident of Cape Charles, VA, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, VA. A native of Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Roy Lewis Shores and the late Lola Elizabeth Baber Shores. She was a retired Insurance Administrative Assistant, working over 45 years with Dickinson Insurance Company in Cape Charles and McCaleb-Metzler Insurance Company in Belle Haven, VA. She was a member of Cape Charles Baptist Church and was a member of the Eastern Star in Virginia.

She is survived by a stepson, Eddie Lewis; two brothers, Charles Shores and his wife, Mary Ellen, and Roy Edward Shores; and two sisters, Mary Emma Payne, and her husband, C.W., and JoAnn Lam. Carolyn will be greatly missed by her close friends and family and was loved by all.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday January 23 at 2:00 PM, at Wilkins-Doughty Funeral Home, (Cape Charles, VA) with Reverends Russell Goodrich and Danny Travers officiating. Interment will follow in Cape Charles Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cape Charles Baptist Church, 501 Randolph Ave., Cape Charles, VA 23310.
