Carlton Acker Smith

May 20, 1917 — January 31, 2007

Mr. Carlton Acker Smith, 89, husband of Hattie Williams Smith of 66 years and a resident of Jamesville, passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at his residence. Born in Bridgeton, New Jersey and reared in Occohannock Neck, he was the son of the late William J. Smith and the late Nettie Corson Smith. He was a retired paint contractor and a member of Belle Haven United Methodist Church where he loved to sing in the choir and arrange flowers for the church. Other than his wife, he is survived by three children, Betty W. Martin and her husband Harry of Onancock, Va., Sandra S. Walters and her husband Donnie of Jamesville, Va., and Debbie S. Etz and her husband Frank of Capeville, Va.; a nephew, Burton Parker of Ft. Pierce, Fl.; and seven grandchildren, Penny Fowler, Gerry Martin, Don Walters, Michele Walters, Richie Walters, Scot Etz, and Lori Mears; eight great grandchildren. Mr. Smith was predeceased by a grandson, Walter Martin. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, February 4th at 2:00 PM from the Belle Haven United Methodist Church with the Pastor Robert Schoeman and the Rev. Jack D. Pruitt officiating. Interment will follow in the Belle Haven Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Belle Haven United Methodist Church, P.O.
