Camryn Reese Coffin earned her angel wings on Saturday, June 22, 2013, following a courageous battle with cancer. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends at her home in Virginia Beach. Reese was a typical little girl who loved singing, dancing, playing dress up, cooking, watching Food Network, Barbie's, princesses, and anything pink! She was an exceptional child, wise beyond her years, witty, with a contagious personality, a great sense of humor, the sweetest disposition, and always smiling. Those who knew her best have called her an old soul. Reese was an amazing gift from God. She's the one - the one they call "the one". Reese enjoyed family camping trips on the Eastern Shore, boating, fishing, many fun days at the beach, playing soccer, and attending school. She started kindergarten at Montessori Academy of Virginia and throughout her sickness was fortunate enough to attend various schools willing to take her in with open arms; and even graduated from kindergarten at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN. After which she surprised even the best doctors in the world and returned to the Eastern Shore to spend another summer with her family and brother Rourke and those locally who supported her and her family throughout the course of her illness; financially, emotionally and spiritually. She attended Montessori Children's House of Franktown for a brief time. Most recently Reese defied the odds yet again and to everyone's surprise, enrolled in the first grade at Woodstock Elementary School in Virginia Beach, VA, where she proudly rode the bus everyday and even earned the title Citizen of the Month for the character trait, respect. She spent her last days watching Food Network. She spent her last days at home with her mommy, daddy, brother and doggie. Despite her increasing pain and failing body she never once complained and rather appreciated and thanked anyone and everyone who visited with her over the last few months. It was because of the generosity of her Eastern Shore family that Reese was able to defy the odds and live three years rather than 3 months - contrary to the original diagnosis from her medical team. With all the support and prayers of the Eastern Shore community Reese would not have been able to get through three months, let alone three years. She was a little girl with a big, big community behind her. She was extremely proud of the Eastern Shore and her heritage. Reese is survived by her loving parents, Matt and Melissa Coffin of Virginia Beach, VA; brother Rourke Forrest Coffin; and doggie Cole. Paternal grandparents Allen and Barbara Coffin of Burke, VA; uncle John and aunt LoLo Coffin; and cousin Bella Coffin; aunt Debbie Simpson of Lorton, VA.
