Boyce Wise Elliott, Sr.

March 8, 1941 — February 3, 2016

LCDR (retired) Boyce Elliott was called home on Wednesday February 3, 2016 at the Walter Reed Hospital in Bethesda, MD while surrounded by his family and close friends.

Boyce was born in Townsend, Virginia to the late Frances Percy Elliott and Susie Mae Belote Elliott, living around the world with the Navy and then settled in Temple Hills, Maryland for more than 30 years.

Enlisting as a Seaman Recruit in the U.S. Navy Boyce served more than 20 years reaching the rank of Lieutenant Commander; his highest military decorations being the Meritorious Service Medal and the Presidential Unit Citation. Boyce continued service to his country for another 25 years in the private sector supporting the U.S. Navy (Naval Air Systems Command). During that time, Boyce enjoyed many hobbies including the complete rebuilding of his 1948 Willys Jeep which was a lifelong goal. He was also an accomplished wood worker - personally designing and building many additions to his home of more than 30 years - a self-taught horticulturalist, WWII history enthusiast, tinkerer, and, lately a lover of feral cats found outside his home. He enjoyed attending air shows, Nationals baseball games and traveling with his wife.

Boyce is survived by his wife, Ann; daughter, Sabrina Hart; two sisters and two brothers: Janet Barrette of Commerce City, CO: Shirley Rose (husband Al) of Mineral, VA; Percy Elliott (wife Marcie) of Delmar, MD; John Elliott (wife Arlene) of Palm Harbor, FL. He also leaves behind more than a dozen grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Carolyn Lollis, son Boyce Elliott Jr., sisters Maxine Kellam, Henrietta Elliott Rodgers and Edna Edar, and brother Thomas Elliott.
