Belle Haven, VA 23306
Bobby Clark Gladden, 89, husband of the late Patsy Warren Gladden and a resident of Painter, VA, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 16, 2019, at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Onancock, VA. A native of Painter, he was the son of the late Dr. William Talmage Gladden and the late Doris Chandler Gladden. He was the former owner of Shore Marine, Inc. and Gladden's Pharmacy and served in the National Guard. Mr. Gladden was a member of Painter-Garrison's United Methodist Church, Eastern Shore Emmaus, Ocean Masonic Lodge #116 AF&AM, and former member of Eastern Shore Yacht & Country Club, Painter Fire Company and Painter Town Council. Bobby enjoyed golf, boating and music, but most of all spending time with his family.
He is survived by a daughter, Nancy Gladden Henderson and her husband, John Mapp, of Painter; a son, Robert Clark Gladden of Melfa, VA; four grandchildren, Jason Hopkins, Douglas Hopkins and his wife, Mary, Michelle Killmon and her husband, Jamie, and Christina Ward; and seven great-grandchildren, Gavin, Kaylie, and Cameron Hopkins, Madison and Kyler Killmon, and Jackson and Kinley Ward. He was predeceased by a brother, Dr. William T. Gladden, Jr., and daughter-in-law, Teresa East Gladden.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, February 20, 2019, at 11:00 AM at Doughty Funeral Home with Reverends Curtis Lucy and Rob Kelly officiating. Interment will be private in Belle Haven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Painter-Garrison's United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 502, Painter, VA 23420, Riverside Shore Hospice, P. O. Box 615, Onley, VA 23418 or Riverside Shore Cancer Center, P. O. Box 430, Onancock, VA 23417.
