Billy Copes Kellam, 83, husband of Peggy Mason Kellam and a resident of Salisbury, MD, formerly of Exmore, VA, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Heritage Hall Healthcare. A native of Scarborough's Neck, VA, he was the son of the late John R. Kellam, Sr. and the late Helen Elmore Kellam and his foster parents, the late William L. "Willie" Waterfield and Maggie Kellam Waterfield. He was retired from Standard Register, an avid gardener, and a member of Impact Wesleyan Church, formerly Faith Wesleyan Church, of Fruitland, MD, where he played an instrumental role in building the new church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Gwen K. Bell and her husband, Tommy, of Birdsnest, VA; three grandchildren, Geoffrey T. Bell, Benson W. Kellam, and Jill K. Yunker, and one sister, Helen K. Presty of Columbia, SC. Mr. Kellam was predeceased by a son, Danny M. Kellam; a sister, Lella K. Melson; four brothers, John R. Kellam, Jr., Joe Kellam, A. Stanley Kellam and James E. Kellam. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Doughty Funeral Home in Exmore with Pastor Wayne Parsons officiating. Interment will follow in the Belle Haven Cemetery. Family will join friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
