Mr. William "Billy T." Hastings, Jr., 77, husband of Madelle Shrieves Hastings and a resident of Johnsontown, passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at his residence. A native of Johnsontown, he was the son of the late William Thomas Hastings, Sr. and the late Mary Floyd Hastings. He was a member of Johnson's United Methodist Church where he served as former Chairman of the Board. He was Past President of the Eastern Shore Shrines Club, Past President of Northampton Ruritan Club and served on the Board of Directors of Broadwater Academy. Other than his wife, he is survived by two children, Mary Jo Hastings Turner and her husband Tyson of Sennett, N.Y., William Thomas Hastings, III and his wife Donna of Johnsontown, Va.; six grandchildren, William Thomas Hasting, IV of Denver, Co., Michael Christopher Hastings of Charlotte, N.C., Mary Tyson Turner of Buffalo, N.Y., Joseph Daniel Turner of Richmond, Va., Emily Hastings Turner of Ithaca, N.Y., Patrick William Turner of Sennett, N.Y.; a brother-in-law, George Shrieves and his wife Harriett of Hunting Creek, Va., and a sister-in-law, Joyce Shrieves of Salisbury, Md. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 9, 2008 at 2:00 PM from the Johnson's United Methodist Church, in Johnsontown, with the Rev. Clarence Bowen officiating. Interment will follow in the Johnson's United Methodist Church Cemetery.
