Bill Sterling, Sr.

Mr. George B. "Bill" Sterling Sr., 89, husband of Anne Drewer Sterling, and a resident of Cedar View, passed away Thursday, Aug. 16, 2018, at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital.

Born on Nov. 19, 1928, he was the son of the late John Garland Sterling Sr. and Evelyn Mason Sterling.

Besides his wife, he is survived by four children, George B. Sterling Jr. and wife, Cheryl; Elizabeth Sterling Mills and husband, Barry; John Mark Sterling; and Steven Mason Sterling and wife, Janet; seven grandchildren, Carrie Douglas and husband, Chris; Anna Matthews; Parke Sterling and wife Jac; Bret Mills; Maggie Sterling; Mason Sterling; Grace Sterling; and step-grandchild, Joshua Nowak and wife, Joy; and eight great-grandchildren, Anne Parker, Emma and Sterling Douglas; Jackson and Adelyn Matthews; Bailey and Finn Sterling; and Nicole Nowak. He was predeceased by a brother, John Garland Sterling Jr.

Mr. Sterling was a 1947 graduate of Central High School and worked on the family farm from an early age and then farmed with his brother until retiring at 79. He was a lifelong member of the Craddockville United Methodist Church, a 50-year plus member of Exmore Moose Lodge 683 and Pungoteague Ruritan Club, and a former board member of Accomack County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed hunting, boating, maintaining his yard and farm and spending time with his family and his cat Oliver.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 19, 2018, at 2:00 PM at Craddockville United Methodist Church with Reverends Rob Kelly and Doug Tanner officiating. Interment will be held in Belle Haven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Craddockville United Methodist Church, c/o Mrs. June Custis, P.O.
