Betty Travis

Betty Louella Travis, 84, until recently a resident of Cedar View Beach, VA, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, VA. A native of Lower Northampton County, VA, she was the daughter of the late Burleigh Austin Travis, Sr. and the late Emma Lee Whitehead Travis. She was a retired switchboard operator and receptionist for Shore Memorial Hospital and member of St. Charles Catholic Church. She is survived by a nephew, Vincent Travis of Feasterville, PA; a niece, Rita Travis of Norfolk, MA and numerous great nieces and great nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Burleigh Austin Travis, Jr.; a sister, Virginia Lee Dunton; a nephew, William Patrick Dunton and a neice, Mary Margaret Moyers. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, August 3, 2015 at 10:00 AM at St. Charles Catholic Church with Father J. Michael Breslin officiating. Interment will be private. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to S.P.C.A. Animal Shelter, P. O. Box 164, Onley, VA 23418.
