Bertie Drummond Culver, 102, wife of the late Charles Wesley Culver and a resident of Capeville, passed away Sunday, November 2, 2008 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. A native of Painter, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late John R. and Ella Bradford Drummond. Mrs. Culver was a member of Capeville United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School and served on numerous committees. She was a member of the church choir for over 50 years and a member of Northampton Chapter #2 O.E.S. She was a retired school teacher, having taught at Tangier, Accomack, Chincoteague, and Northampton County Public Schools. Survivors include three daughters, Mattie Lynne Lambert and her husband Carlon of Crestview, Fla., Eloise C. Nunn of Sterling, Va., Judith Dare Messenger and her husband Tom of Jane Lew, WV; two sons, John Wesley Culver and Jeffery Bagwell Culver, both of Capeville; 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Charles R. Culver. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, November 5th at 1:00 PM in Capeville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dewayne Duncan and the Rev. Jack D. Pruitt officiating. Interment will follow in the Capeville Masonic Cemetery. Family will join friends in church one hour prior to the service.
