Bertha Mae Dunton, 81, wife of the late Henry S. Dunton and a resident of Nassawadox, VA, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Frank Smullin and the late Sarah Thompson Smullin. She was a member of Exmore Baptist Church, Women of the Moose in Belle Haven, Elks Club, and Eastern Shore Yacht & Country Club. She is survived by three daughters, Bridgette Mears and her fiancé, Richard Spencer, Sr., of Belle Haven, Pat Mears of Nassawadox, Paulette Kilmon and her husband, Dick, of Denton, MD; three stepdaughters, Mary M. Doughty of Willis Wharf, VA, Rita M. Higbee and her husband, Ira, of Painter, VA, Annette Hall and her husband, Ronnie of Capeville, VA; a brother, Willie Smullin and his wife, Ella Mae, of Bloxom, VA; grandchildren, Jacklyn Bishop and her husband, JR, Jay Farlow and his wife, Jenny, Mindy Taylor and her husband, Jack, Donnie Kilmon and his wife, Shawna, Angie Kilmon, Rebecca Cowling and her husband, Doug, Terry Higbee, and Zack Higbee; great-grandchildren, Hunter May Bishop, Chelsea P. Moore, Nathan Farlow, Andrew Taylor, Rachel Taylor, Connor Taylor; and numerous nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her brother, Frank Smullin and sisters, Liz Brady, Margette Bonniwell, Georgie Peppler, Shirley Smullin. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 9, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at the Doughty Funeral Home with Reverend Bill Charnock officiating. Interment will follow in the Belle Haven Cemetery.
