Benjamin Gilbert Konkel, Jr.

Benjamin Gilbert Konkel, Jr., 74, husband of Norma Margarita Anleu Konkel and a resident of Columbia, NC, and Exmore, VA, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2017. Born in Flanders, NY on October 1, 1942, he was the son of the late Benjamin Gilbert Konkel, Sr. and the late Mary Ellen Rowe Konkel. He was an automotive mechanic during his working years, served in the United States Navy on the USS Yosemite for three years, and moved to the Gum Neck Community in 2003.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by a son, Benjamin G. Konkel, III and his wife, Tracy, of Chesapeake VA; two daughters, Jackie Konkel Clark and her husband, Gerald, of Zuni, VA, Dawn Konkel Bates of Wilmington, NC; three brothers, Tim Konkel of Flanders, George Konkel of Florida, Elbert Konkel; three sisters, Katherine Konkel of Flanders, Mary Konkel Becker and her husband, John, of Manorville, NY, Joan Konkel of Tennessee; eleven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
A celebration of life service will be conducted Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 3:30 PM at Doughty Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Madron officiating.
