Barbara Sechrist Powell, 77, wife of the late Robert Lee Powell and a resident of Norfolk, VA, passed away Sunday, November 9, 2014 in Virginia Beach, VA. A native of Cape Charles, VA, she was the daughter of the late Charles Edward Sechrist and the late Maude Evans Sechrist. She was a retired executive secretary. She is survived by two daughters, Patti Hurst and her husband, Jim, of Virginia Beach, Pamela Rudiger and her husband, Henry, of Virginia Beach; three stepchildren, Tammy Powell of North Carolina, Robert Charles Powell and his wife, JoAnne, of Norfolk, Bill Powell and his fiancé, Sandy, of Cape Charles; seven grandchildren, Timothy and his wife, Carla, Jonathan and his wife, Ashley, Andrew, Ashley, Kelsea, Christopher, Chandler; and three great grandchildren, Adam, Charlotte and Emma Rose. She was predeceased by a son, Charles Darrell Patterson. A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Cape Charles Cemetery with Revered Janet C. Allen officiating. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Caring Voice Coalition, 8249 Meadowbridge Road, Mechanicsville, VA 23116.
