Barbara Jean Lewis, 82, a resident of Cape Charles, VA, passed away Monday, February 9, 2015, at Heritage Hall Healthcare in Nassawadox, VA. A native of Rochelle, IL, she was the daughter of the late William E. Helms and the late Hortense Dunsworth Helms. She retired as an emergency room clerk at Rochelle Memorial Hospital and was a member of Woodstown Presbyterian Church. Barbara enjoyed her family more than anything in this world. After raising her children, she moved back to Rochelle to take care of her parents. She worked at the local hospital and reunited with a great friend/boyfriend, John, with whom she traveled to Europe a few times a year, went on cruises and really enjoyed the many different cultures. She participated and even won a few senior marathons. She was diagnosed with ataxia in 1995. She still traveled some with John but in 2006 she moved to Virginia to be closer to her children and grandchildren. She is survived by three children, Suellen Morgan and her husband, John of Stafford, VA, Kathy Miller and her husband, John, of Tiverton, RI, Bill Lewis and his wife, Sue, of Cape Charles; nine grandchildren, James, Mark, Susan, Heather, Mike, Hilary, Samantha, Jenny, and Billy; and ten great grandchildren, Tiffany, Zachary, Jessica, Matthew, Olivia, Jake, Will, AJ, Cale and Nick; a niece, Keiko Long and her husband, Bill; and great nieces, Lilly, Emma and Audrey.
