Archie Andrew Dail, 96, husband of the late Elizabeth "Liz" Bryan Dail and the late Dorothy Turner Drummond Dail and a resident of Norfolk, formerly of Craddockville, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 5, 2009. A native of Norfolk, he was the son of the late Andrew Jackson Dail and Virginia Victoria Hassell Dail. Mr. Dail was retired from the U.S. Postal Service and was a U.S. Navy veteran where he served in WWII. He was a member and deacon of the Talbot Park Baptist Church, member of Central Masonic Lodge #300 AF&AM, Khedive Shrine, Eastern Shore Scottish Rites, Charity Lodge #10 Knights of Pythias in Norfolk, Craddockville United Methodist Men's Club, Exmore Moose Lodge # 683, and was a scoutmaster of the Boy Scouts of America. Survivors include two sons, Dr. Ray Andrew Dail and his wife Betty of York County and Thomas Alan Dail and his wife Dolores of Norfolk; a daughter, Joe Sue Parker and her husband Robert of Craddockville; a son-in-law, Samuel Taylor of Craddockville; a brother-in-law, Vincent D. Bryan of Virginia Beach; eleven grandchildren, Erin Elizabeth Dail McCuller, David Andrew Dail, Rachel Anne Eckard, James Paul Kovach, Aaron David Kovach, Michael Andrew Kovach, Jody Parker Baggett, Harry Drummond Parker, Samuel Thomas Taylor, IV, Dorothy Taylor Tadder, Turner Mapp Taylor; fifteen great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mr. Dail was predeceased by an infant daughter, Elaine Dail; a daughter, Georgie Mae Taylor; four sisters, one step-sister, and three grandchildren. The family would like to thank special caregivers, Mrs. Brenda Collins and Mr. Percy Reid. Funeral services will be held in the chapel at Talbot Park Baptist Church in Norfolk, Virginia on Friday, January 9, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Keith Martin officiating. The family will greet friends immediately following the service. A private interment will be held at Riverside Memorial Cemetery, Norfolk, VA.
