Annie Mildred Webb, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away while asleep in the early morning of July 12, 2010, of natural causes at age 92. She was the daughter of John Thomas Bundick and Annie Mildred Bell of Accomack County, Virginia, and the twin sister of James Bundick of Quinby, also deceased. She was the last surviving member of her family. In 1936, Annie married Edwin Purnell Webb (1913 - 1974) of Wardtown, Northampton County, and lived there until the year 2001, when she moved to Tallahassee, Florida, to be near her daughter, Ellen Ann. She was a homemaker all her life and a faithful and lifelong Methodist. Mrs. Webb is survived by daughter Ellen Ann Webb Dempsey (Richard), of Tallahassee, as well as by grandson Erik Webb Dempsey (Anna), and by two great-grandchildren, Daniel Webb Dempsey (born 2004) and Fiona Maria Dempsey (born 2007), all of whom presently live in Dubai. Mrs. Webb was raised in Quinby in a family noted for its hymn singing among Eastern Shore churches. She learned to play the piano by ear at an early age and would take any opportunity to sit at a piano and pick out remembered songs. All she required was for someone to remind her of the tune. For several decades she provided musical accompaniment during services at Bethel United Methodist Church in Jamesville, Virginia, where she was a member more than sixty years. During her residency in Tallahassee, Mrs. Webb lived first at Cherry Laurel Retirement apartments on Mahan Drive and later at The Plantation on Old St. Augustine Road, when she needed more assistance. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 17, 2010, at 2:00 PM at the Doughty Funeral Home in Exmore, Virginia with the Rev. Judy Worthington officiating. Family will join friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Belle Haven Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to Bethel United Methodist Church, c/o Mrs. Bettie Nuckols, P.O. Box 224, Jamesville, VA 23398.
