Ann Sturgis Smith, 58, a resident of Belle Haven, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2010, at PRMC in Salisbury, MD. A native of the Eastern Shore of Virginia, she was the daughter of Georgie Smullin Peppler of Exmore and the late Bernie Lee Sturgis. She was a real estate agent for Coldwell Banker for nine years and an accountant for Impact Fitness in Cape Charles. Other than her mother, she is survived by three children, Michele Denton and her fiance` Frank Williams Blake III of Pungoteague, VA, Ron Evans Jr. and his wife, Tracey of Pungoteague, and Tara Thornes and her husband, Bobby of Parksley, VA; one sister, Linda Powell and her husband, James of Belle Haven; two brothers, Wayne Sturgis of Jamesville, VA, and Brad Sturgis and his wife, Theresa, of Warsaw, VA; seven grandchildren, Brandon Parks, Amanda Denton, Kolby Evans, Kayla Evans, Damien Hall, Hunter-Dawn Hall, and Dustin T. Hall. She was predeceased by a son-in-law, John A. Denton Jr. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 26, 2010, at 1:00 PM at the Doughty Funeral Home in Exmore with Pastor Joe McKnight officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Holly Cemetery in Onancock, VA. Family will join friends Thursday evening from 6 to 7:30 at the Doughty Funeral Home.
