Mrs. Ann Powell Fauber (90) of Cape Charles, Virginia died peacefully at her home on Jacobia Lane September 28, 2014. Ann was born November 5, 1923 in Lynchburg, Virginia, the daughter of the late Arthur Benjamin Powell, Sr. and Nellie Ferguson Powell. She was preceded in death by her three brothers Benjamin Powell, Jack Powell, and Larry Powell and her sister Latisha "Tish" Powell Crim. She and her husband of 68 years, Dorris Wilson Fauber, met during World War II when he was in the Navy and were married in February 1946. In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children; Pamela F. Kupiec and husband John of Mathews, VA; Doris F. Strickler and husband Michael of Lexington, VA; David W. Fauber and wife Donna of Oyster, VA; Michael P. Fauber and wife Connie of Dallas, TX; and eight grandchildren; Scott Kupiec, Matthew Strickler, Amanda Green, Battaile Fauber, Joseph Fauber, Abigail Fauber, Caleb Fauber, and Ruth Dean; and four great grandchildren. She is an alumna of Randolph Macon Womens College, was active in alumnae affairs, and served as President of the Eastern Shore (Virginia) Chapter of the Alumnae Association. Involved in church activities throughout her life, she and her family were members of the Reveille United Methodist Church in Richmond, and, upon their move to Virginia Beach in 1964, joined the Virginia Beach United Methodist Church. When Mr. Fauber retired from AT&T, they set up permanent residence near Cape Charles, Virginia and joined Holmes Presbyterian Church of which they have been faithful members the past 28 years. A homemaker most of her adult life, family meant everything to "Gram". She and her husband bought "Jacobia" on Plantation Creek in 1974 and began renovations on what was to be known as the "The Farm"; their home to share with family and friends. It has been a gathering spot since that time for vacations and special occasions. Her resolve and grace have preserved family traditions and celebrations for decades. A memorial service will be held at Holmes Presbyterian Church, Cheriton on Saturday, October 11th at 2 PM.
