Ann Melson Davis

May 9, 1922 — May 23, 2010

Ann Melson Davis, 88, wife of the late Henry Clay Davis and a resident of Craddockville, Virginia, passed away Sunday, May 23, 2010 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. A native of Shields, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late William Brent and Helen Ayres Melson. She retired from Delmarva Power with over forty years of service. She was a faithful member of Craddockville United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school for seventy years. She is survived by two children, Ann Henry Wright and her husband David of Chesterfield, Va., John Brent Davis and his wife Diana , devoted daughter-in-law of Craddockville, Va.; five grandchildren, Kim Wright, Carl Wright and his wife Dana of Craddockville, Va., Kate Clark and her husband Jeff of Chesterfield, Va., Laura Davis of Blairstown, N.J., Clay Davis of Richmond, Va.; five great grandchildren, Brooke, Zack, and Jacob Clark, David and Ryan Wright; and several nieces and nephews . She was predeceased by a brother, William Brent Melson, Jr. Gran, we love you. You will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Doughty Funeral Home in Exmore with the Rev. Kenneth T. Armstong officiating. Interment will follow in the Belle Haven Cemetery. Family will join friends Tuesday evening from 7 to 8 at the Doughty Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Craddockville United Methodist Church, c/o Mrs. June Custis, P.O. Box 66, Craddockville, VA 23341.
