Allen Russell Smith, Sr., age 86, of St. Joe, Arkansas, passed away Monday, September 8, 2014 at Hospice of the Hills Hospice House in Harrison, Arkansas. Mr. Smith was born September 3, 1928 in Jamesville, Virginia to the late Harry C. Smith and Margaret (Somers) Grinnalds. He was owner-operator of a sanitation service. He was an United States Army veteran of World War II and he enjoyed attending auction sales and flea markets. Allen is survived by his wife, Eunice, of the home; two sons: Jimmy Lee Smith of Bruno, Arkansas; and Allen R. Smith Jr. of Bergman, Arkansas; two daughters: Mary Jane Sessions of Yellville, Arkansas; and Elizabeth A. Smith of Bruno, Arkansas; two half-brothers: Cecil Smith of Jamesville, Virginia, and Emerson Smith, of Keller, Virginia; nine grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.Mr. Smith was preceded in death by two brothers: Floyd Smith and Johnny Smith; and a grandchild, John Allen Sessions. Visitation will be Thursday, September 11, 2014 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Burns Funeral Home in Yellville, Arkansas. Funeral service will be Friday, September 12, 2014 at 11:00 am at Burns Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Eldon Hellums officiating. Interment will follow at East Oakland Cemetery in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be Ben Smith, John Smith, Dan Smith, Kendall Smith, Heath Smith, and Robert Swearingen. Honorary pallbearers will be MacKenzie Medley and Devon Smith. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Hills Hospice House in Harrison, Arkansas.
