Mrs. Adelia Anne Shelton Smith, 81, wife of the late Forrest Lecato Smith and a resident of Painter, passed away Thursday, September 20, 2007 at her residence. A native of Louisa County, she was the daughter of the late William M. Shelton and Zelma A. Shelton. Mrs. Smith was a retired registered x-ray technician. She received her training at the Medical College of Virginia and worked at hospitals in Richmond and Harrisonburg before moving to the Eastern Shore and working at the Northampton-Accomack Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Smith is survived by a son, William F. Smith and his wife Liz of Exmore, Va.; a grandson, William F. Smith, Jr. of Exmore; a step-grandson, James S. Tittermary and his wife Holly of Birdsnest, Va.; three step-great grandchildren, Patrick, Natalie, and Allison all of Birdsnest; a sister-in-law, Jeanie Daniel of Dundas; a niece, Sarah Daniel of Dundas; nephews, Bob Smith and his wife Jackie of Painter, Va., and David Daniel of Dundas; and numerous cousins on the Eastern Shore and Louisa County. Funeral services will be held at the Doughty Funeral Home in Exmore Saturday, September 22nd at 7:30 PM with the Rev. Patricia Kellam officiating. Family will join friends from 7 to 8:30. Graveside services will be held at the Shelton Family Cemetery in Louisa County on Monday, September 24th at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Ann B. Davis officiating.
