Claire Barnes

Claire Elizabeth Barnes, 95, wife of the late William W. Barnes and a resident of Onancock, VA, formally of Florence, AL, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at Commonwealth Senior Living at the Eastern Shore in Onancock. A native of Cleveland, OH, she was the daughter of the late Sebastian Schill and the late Clara Gamauf Schill.  She was a graduate of Ohio State University.

She is survived by three children, Scott J. Barnes of Bloomington, IN, Virginia Ann “Ginger” Strong and her husband, Paul, of Cape Charles, VA, and Carol Elizabeth Barnes of DeLand, FL; brother, S. James Schill and his wife, Jean, of Bonita Springs, FL; four grandchildren; and a great-grand daughter.

A private family service will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
